FAQ.
Frequently asked questions.
-
Do you accept walk-in patients?Yes, walk-ins are welcome - particularly in semi-urgent situations. While we encourage online bookings through HotDoc to help minimise waiting times and ensure smooth scheduling, we understand that things don’t always go to plan. If you arrive without an appointment, our team will let you know the next available time and an estimated wait.
-
How do I cancel my appointment? We kindly ask that you cancel or reschedule your appointment with as much notice as possible. The easiest way to do this is via HotDoc, which allows you to manage your bookings online at any time. If you’re unable to use HotDoc, please call us on 02 7255 0725 or email us at reception@hergp.au. Please note that a cancellation policy is in place, and a fee may apply for late cancellations or missed appointments without adequate notice.
-
How do I provide feedback or make a complaint? We welcome your feedback and are here to help. If you have a compliment, suggestion or concern, you can speak to our team directly or submit feedback online. You can also contact the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission. Read more about your rights and feedback options here →
-
Do you accept rebates from private health funds? At HerGP, we do not have a HICAPS machine for on-the-spot claiming. However, we are happy to provide you with an itemised receipt after your payment, which you can use to submit a claim directly with your private health fund. Please note: GP consultations are generally not covered by private health insurance. Some allied health services may be eligible for a rebate, depending on your fund and level of cover. If you are an overseas visitor with travel or student insurance (e.g. OSHC), full payment is required upfront, and you must claim reimbursement directly through your insurer. We recommend checking with your fund about what is covered under your policy. All rebate issues must be followed up with your health fund directly, as HerGP cannot take responsibility for processing or outcome of claims.
-
Do you offer early morning or evening appointments?Yes, we offer limited early morning (8:00–9:00am) and late afternoon (5:00–6:00pm) appointments. Please note that these sessions are not available for online booking via HotDoc and must be arranged directly with our reception team. To enquire or book, please contact us on 02 7255 0725.
-
Do I have to pay a private fee?Yes, Her GP is a private practice, and most of our consultations include a $50 gap fee. You will be charged the full consultation fee at the time of your appointment, and Medicare will issue an instant rebate to your nominated bank account. (For example, if you have a 30-minute consultation, the total fee will be $132.90, with a $82.90 Medicare rebate applied after payment.) We aim to make healthcare accessible for all patients: - Students will receive a discounted flat gap fee of $30 to help support their healthcare needs while managing study commitments. - Concession/ Health Care/ Pension and DVA cardholders are bulk billed, meaning they will not incur any out-of-pocket costs for eligible consultations. If you have any questions about fees, rebates, or eligibility, feel free to check the Fee Schedule tab or speak with our reception team.
-
What if I’m running late to my appointment? Please call us on 02 7255 0725 as soon as possible to let us know. We understand that delays happen, but arriving late may impact other patients’ appointments. While we’ll do our best to accommodate you, we can’t always guarantee you'll be seen. If needed, we’ll offer you the next available slot or help you reschedule.
-
Do you offer home visits?Yes, by special arrangement. Please speak to our reception staff on 02 7255 0725.
-
What if I need to see you urgently? For any life-threatening medical emergencies, please call 000 immediately or go to your nearest hospital. If you require urgent but non-life-threatening medical attention, we do our best to accommodate walk-in emergency consultations during clinic hours, subject to availability. Please call ahead to check wait times. For after-hours or home visits, you can arrange an appointment by calling the clinic directly or emailing hello@hergp.au.
-
Is your practice child-friendly?Absolutely. Our doctors are warm, approachable, and experienced in working with children of all ages. We’ve created a welcoming environment for families, including a small play area in our reception space with books and toys available to help little ones feel at ease. The play area is cleaned and sterilised regularly in accordance with hygiene standards to ensure a safe and pleasant visit for every child.
-
Will you send me an appointment reminder?Yes, we send SMS reminders for appointments through HotDoc. To receive these reminders, patients must ensure SMS notifications are enabled in their HotDoc account. New patients will also receive a courtesy confirmation call on the morning of their first appointment. In addition, we aim to notify you (via SMS, phone call, email, or letter) if a follow-up or recall appointment is recommended—such as for blood tests, cervical screening, or other important reviews.
